Up close and personal with Sherlock’s Martin Freeman – video

The actor tells RadioTimes.com what he does - and doesn't - know about series three at our annual covers party

Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat are “still buggering about” with the script for the first episode of Sherlock, says Martin Freeman, but he, Benedict Cumberbatch and the rest of the cast should be getting together for a first read-through in early March.

Speaking to RadioTimes.com at our star-studded annual covers party, the actor who plays John Watson in the BBC1 drama told us even he didn’t know exactly how Sherlock had survived his plunge from the roof of St Bart’s hospital at the end of series two but that Moffat and Gatiss had “dropped hints” – and that some of our own readers have already come pretty near to the truth.

“People who are writing into Radio Times… some of them got quite close,” says Freeman, who also predicts a “violent” reaction from his character to the detective’s return.
