Channel 4 stars to mark 30th anniversary by swapping programmes

Next year Channel 4 is celebrating three decades on the air with a series of events, beginning with an evening taking the stars of hit shows and mixing them up. So Davina won't host The Million Pound Drop – she'll be a contestant. Jimmy Carr will present a very unusual edition of Countdown, or rather Eight out of Ten Cats Do Countdown.

"Some of Channel 4's biggest stars and some of our favourite shows as you've never seen them before," says Justin Gorman, head of entertainment at Channel 4. "They're swapping with each other for a treat and a laugh to kick off the new year."

For one night in early January, the schedule will also include Location, Location, Location with Kirstie Allsopp - and Alan Carr. It's not a joke, either - at least, not entirely a joke: he really will have to negotiate a house purchase for a woman in need of a home.

We'll also see how the Made in Chelsea gang handle themselves when they can't hire in caterers and instead have to compete in a special Come Dine with Me.

All these shows are real, for one night only, but there's a whole year of celebrations to come: what famous Channel 4 shows would you mash up? Surely Queer as Folk's Stuart could move into Brookside Close. The Dispatches documentary team is having its budget cut, so perhaps they could save some costs by hot-desking with Globelink News from Drop the Dead Donkey.
