Episode 2: Nicola Sturgeon

Summary

Nicola Sturgeon has the grilling of a lifetime from neurodivergent interviewers. Why did she separate from her husband? Who does she most loathe in politics? Nothing is off limits.

Review

David Butcher

Nicola Sturgeon is next up to face TV’s most unpredictable interviewers. According to the press notes, it gets emotional. “When I started talking about the baby I lost to a miscarriage, the tears just started to flow and I didn’t think I was going to be able to stop,” Sturgeon says.

The programme wasn’t available for preview but the former first minister of Scotland feels like a good example of where the format can improve on a standard journalistic grilling. Freed from the need to avoid hostile headlines, Sturgeon opened up as “someone who naturally wants to wear my heart on my sleeve”. But with any luck, like certain guests before her, she may reveal more than she realised.
