Animated comedy featuring the voices of Ilai Swindells and Jai Courtney. Young Freddy Lupin is from a proud werewolf family, but at his first transformation he turns into a fluffy poodle, not a fearsome wolf. Faced with banishment from his pack, Freddy embarks on a quest to prove his wolf status.
This lively Australian animation sees young lycanthrope Freddy (voiced by Ilai Swindells) joining a neighbourhood crime-fighting werewolf troupe (nice detail: they hate dogs). But when Freddy turns 14, he transforms not into a ferocious werewolf, but a miniature poodle with pink hair. Laughed out of the pack, he must retrieve a magic ring to restore his reputation, and teams up with a street dog (Samara Weaving) for a lengthy Lady and the Tramp retread that includes dog-catchers and a Scottish terrier. Enjoyable voice work comes courtesy of Rhys Darby and Jai Courtney, while the boxy, bendy animation is nicely reminiscent of the Ice Age films. Plus extra points for a daringly grown-up Tinder joke.
