Summary

Greg Davies and Alex Horne return for the 20th series as Ania Magliano, Maisie Adam, Phil Ellis, Reece Shearsmith and Sanjeev Bhaskar compete to win both Greg's affection and his shiny head

Ad

Episode 1: 9x7

Summary

Greg Davies and Alex Horne welcome the latest five comics to take on the challenge - Maisie Adam, Reece Shearsmith, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Phil Ellis and Ania Magliano. They'll be facing all manner of tasks, beginning with challenges involving codes, gym balls and disgusting noises, to test their daring, dexterity and dignity under pressure - and to also make them look just a little bit silly too

Review

This is, perhaps, a Taskmaster first — this latest crop of contestants have such a range of ages, you can divide them by decade. Up-and- coming comic Ania Magliano is in her 20s, TV regular Maisie Adam her 30s, off-beat stand-up Phil Ellis his 40s. Actors Reece Shearsmith and Sanjeev Bhaskar, in their 50s and 60s respectively complete the set. Perhaps even stranger — despite always sitting in alphabetical first name order, they’re also sitting in age order. The world’s greatest coincidence, or obsessive talent booker? This is Taskmaster, so I know what my money’s on.

Still, no matter who you have on the show or how old they are, it’s the tasks themselves — which in this opening episode include chasing after presenter Alex Horne to scan a QR code, and doing something both disgusting and nice at the same time — that are the real stars of the show.
