He’s already narrated countless films and TV shows, and Morgan Freeman will soon be lending his sonorous voice to a character in the upcoming Warner Bros’ Lego movie, The Piece of Resistance.
The 3D animated film, which will be released in the States on 28 February 2014, will tell the eccentric tale of an “ordinary Lego mini-figure” who is recruited by a band of insurgents to go on a quest to prevent an evil tyrant from “gluing the universe together.”
Deadline reports that Warner are keeping details of Freeman’s character under wraps, though the site speculates that he’ll be voicing a character called Vitruvius.
Joining the Se7en star in The Piece of Resistance’s cast are Magic Mike’s Channing Tatum, Ben 10 voice artist Chris Pratt, Arrested Development’s Will Arnett and Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks. In the film, Tatum will voice Lego Superman, while Arnett has been lined up to bring a Lego Batman to life.
The film will be both written and directed by 21 Jump Street’s co-makers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and Australian animators Animal Logic have been hired to carry out the CGI work.
Oscar-winner Freeman was most recently seen on the big screen as technical expert Lucius Fox in Christopher Nolan’s third Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises.
