Idris Elba's DCI John Luther makes a sensational leap to Netflix in this electrifying movie spin-off. Returning after the BBC series' conclusion in 2019, creator Neil Cross crafts a compelling and twisted script that starts as Luther is jailed for a series of offences, including tampering with evidence while searching for a missing youngster. The mastermind behind all this is city trader David Robey (Andy Serkis), a vengeful maniac with a penchant for blackmailing people with their shameful secrets. As Luther languishes behind bars, DCI Odette Raine (Cynthia Erivo) leads the investigation into Robey, but it isn't long before Luther is on the case in his own inimitable style. Director Jamie Payne keeps the tension levels high with nail-biting action, including a thrilling prison escape, a Piccadilly Circus showdown, and a snowbound finale. Elba brings the swagger and Serkis (despite a suspect wig) is a chilling adversary, making this a must-see for devotees and newbies alike.
