Our Score
If 2015's Jurassic World took the original Jurassic Park concept to its logical theme-park conclusion, then this follow-up is something of a shadowy cousin to its 1997 sequel The Lost World. Both films are darker, both bring back Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcolm (though just in a key cameo here) and both follow a similar save-the-dinos plot. Perhaps most crucially, both struggle telling a new story away from the original island, with Fallen Kingdom mainly acting as the set-up for a more interesting sequel. But there's still plenty to enjoy, including the return of likeable leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, some fascinating new ideas, a creepy new dinosaur called the Indoraptor and a brave ending that upends the rules of the franchise. But in the end, no matter how well it's put together, the feeling is that this is just a stepping stone towards a bigger, better and more interesting story - and it's hard to find that entirely satisfying.

Three years after the destruction of Jurassic World, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing are asked to return to the theme park to save its resident dinosaurs from the island's active volcano. During their mission, they uncover a conspiracy that may affect the entire planet. Action sequel, starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall and Toby Jones.
