The first poster for The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies – the final instalment of Peter Jackson’s fantasy trilogy – sees the evil dragon spreading his fiery wrath upon the wooden houses of J.R.R Tolkien’s vulnerable settlement. The new artwork comes ahead of a first-look trailer which is expected to launch at San Diego Comic-Con when it hosts a Hobbit panel in Hall H on Saturday.
Also unveiled at the four-day event is the new Hobbit-themed Lego set due to hit the shops this autumn. Titled Lego: The Hobbit – The Lonely Mountain, the 866-piece set marks the first time Smaug has received the Lego treatment, his figurine decorated with scales, giant wings, sharp claws and translucent fiery breath.
Also starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies is released in UK cinemas on 12 December 2014
