Cue bicycle bells. The Call the Midwife ladies are back on set to film series three.
Miranda Hart, Jessica Raine, Helen George, Luara Main and co have reunited today to start shooting the 2013 Christmas special, as well as eight new episodes due to air in 2014.
The stars of BBC1’s hit 50s-set midwife drama will be filming on location at Chatham Dockyard, as well as at their new studios in Chertsey, Surrey.
The end of series two saw Chummy (Hart) give birth to her baby boy, Sister Bernadette (Main) follow her heart and Nonnatus House come under threat from demolition. The third series will be set in 1959, on the eve of the swinging sixties.
Main recently told RadioTimes.com: “It’s going to be very different… I can’t wait to see a script!”
Written by Heidi Thomas, and based on the memoirs of the late Jennifer Worth, Call the Midwife will return to our screens this Christmas.
