Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Sam Worthington stars here as a soldier recruited into a training programme that evolves humans to adapt to life on Titan, a distant moon orbiting Saturn that has an atmosphere similar to ours. Despite a grand opening, this low-budget sci-fi is a slow, peculiar film that lacks in almost every area. Taking place entirely on the training base, the main mission is only talked about, with the majority of the plot comprising a series of dull training sequences and conversations. After an hour of lab tests and heart-to-hearts comes a confusing final act devoid of any tension, where the already blank Worthington is hampered further by a heavy layer of ludicrous make-up. Tom Wilkinson is the one saving grace as the shady head of the mission, but even he's not good enough to save the film. The Titan raises some interesting questions about the world we live in. However, with no depth or spectacle, it fails to provide any answers.
