Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Jayne Nelson

There's a nostalgic whiff of Smokey and the Bandit silliness to this crime caper. After a lifetime of thievery, Moke (Josh Brolin) has a wife, a mortgage and a baby on the way and is trying to go straight. Unfortunately he also has a twin brother, Jady (Peter Dinklage), just released from jail. Blackmailed by a twisted corrections officer (Brendan Fraser), Jady needs Moke's help for a heist. A frantic road trip ensues, as the brothers track down their wayward mother Cath (Glenn Close) and some emeralds she stole when they were kids. The premise is flimsy and the jokes are puerile, with the absolute worst moment starring a sex-crazed orangutan (it's almost as bad as you're imagining). Yet for all the gross-out gags and misplaced punchlines, the cast fully commit to their roles. Dinklage is great, but Fraser's deranged performance takes the crown. "I am JUSTICE!" he screams in one ridiculous scene, like the Oscar winner he is. Respect.
