Ewan McGregor has become the latest high-profile actor to join the cast of John Wells’s upcoming movie, August: Osange County.
The film, which is based on the Pulitzer and Tony-award winning play by Tracy Letts, follows the fortunes of a group of people brought back together at their family home by a crisis.
Led by Meryl Streep as the dysfunctional ‘mother’ who brought them up, the cast includes Julia Roberts as Ewan McGregor’s estranged wife and Benedict Cumberbatch as the sensitive and clumsy Little Charles.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, other actors involved include Abigail Breslin, Chris Cooper, Sam Shepard and Margo Martindale.
McGregor, who rose to fame thanks to his stellar performances in Danny Boyle’s Shallow Grave and Trainspotting, has just finished promoting his latest film, The Impossible, at the Toronto Film Festival.
Filming on August: Osage County, which is produced by George Clooney, is expected to begin later this month.
