Summary
Comedy fantasy starring Glynis Johns and Googie Withers. When Dr Paul Marten brings an invalid patient home to stay, his wife begins to suspect something strange is going on. Little does she know that the beautiful, flirtatious Miranda has a three-foot tail instead of legs!

As Miranda the mermaid, Glynis Johns gives one of the best performances of her career in this fishy tale that had more than a passing influence on the Ron Howard hit Splash. Griffith Jones is something of a stuffed shirt as the doctor who pulls her out of the sea and gives her the run of his bathroom, but Googie Withers is good value as his suspicious wife and David Tomlinson makes a suitably silly-ass suitor. Yet no one can compare with the marvellous Margaret Rutherford as the local nurse. Slickly handled by Ken Annakin, it's never exactly funny, but it's highly enjoyable.
