Haunted by his past, a guilt-stricken criminal attempts to track down the daughter of the woman he killed. With John Hannah.
This moody thriller follows a tough, remorseful criminal who is looking for redemption. His name is Marley Jacobs (Frederick Schmidt), and he is racked with guilt because he accidentally killed a young mother (Ana Ularu). After spending six years in prison, Marley is determined to make amends, so he decides to track down the woman's daughter, a teenage girl who is involved with some dangerous people. Unfortunately, this includes Marley's former employer (John Hannah), a ruthless gangster who informs Marley that the girl is missing. As he searches for her, Schmidt gives a solid performance, conveying the character's guilt and remorse. Hannah is well cast as the film's big bad, although you might be distracted by his accent, which changes from scene to scene. The Marker is entirely predictable, but it is worth watching if you enjoy dark, brooding crime movies that occasionally erupt into violence.
