Velibor Topic plays the bad guy - again - Radio Times, May 2007 |

Claire Webb gets the actor's take on playing characters on the wrong side of the law.
"Here at RT, we like a bit of Velibor Topic-spotting.
Our most recent sighting of the Bosnian actor
is in Holby Blue as drugs
baron Neculai Stenga - and this isn't the first time
he's terrorised Bristol's emergency services,
having appeared in both Casualty and Holby City.
Topic's clearly a nice guy really (when we spoke
to him, he was helping his mum out in the garden),
and he tells us he's performed everything from
Japanese theatre to Greek tragedy. Yet here in
Britain, he rarely manages to escape a life of
crime. His roles to date include a war criminal (Prime
Suspect), a trafficker of illegal immigrants (The
Bill) and a suspected serial killer (Silent Witness).
"I've played a lot of criminals from Eastern
Europe," Topic tells us, accurately, "but I've
always tried to do them a little differently. I find
every new role a big challenge." Hmm. If Topic's
not worried about typecasting, Mum is: "She
says, 'You can't always be a criminal!'"
