Episode 4: Sabotage

Summary

Liz struggles to uncover the leak in the police department and its possible connection to gangster Crowther.

Review

David Brown

This conspiracy thriller certainly isn’t lacking in incident. It’s just that those crunch points feel slightly clichéd. Take tonight’s episode, which sees Liz (Siobhan Finneran) make the maverick move of confronting — in a public arena — the person whom she believes to be pulling the strings.

Naturally, Liz, like so many rule-bending TV cops before her, is then benched by a superior officer, who issues the order to, “go home and get some rest. Right now!”. And who knows? Maybe she’ll spend the final two episodes eating custard creams while watching Bargain Hunt. But my prediction is that, by this time next week, Liz will be unmasking the mole in the department — and risking her life in doing so.
