Review

Jack Seale

Having spent its first season amiably observing knackered golf pro Pryce Cahill (Owen Wilson) as he found, befriended and coached young prodigy Santi (Peter Dager) to become a new star of the game, the cheerful comedy drama returns with two questions to ponder, neither of which is too taxing: should Santi take control of his career by turning professional now, rather than establishing himself properly on the tour circuit first? And should Pryce’s rekindled love of golf extend to him making a proper comeback himself?

Wilson’s lackadaisical likeability and the show’s smooth charm make it an undemanding watch, which is at its funniest when either Marc Maron as Mitts, Pryce’s pal and potentially Santi’s new stepfather, or Timothy Olyphant as Clark, Pryce’s demonically charming old rival, are on screen.
