The theatreland awards are traditionally shown on ITV1, but this year BBC Two relays the razzamatazz, “bringing the magic of theatre into homes across the nation,” says Suzy Klein, head of BBC Arts. So you can watch highlights of great shows from the comfort of your living room, where you will have decent legroom and won’t need to pre-order interval drinks.

This is the 50th year of celebrating the West End’s finest and as ever, musicals lead the (chorus) line, with Paddington: the Musical and the Sondheim revival Into the Woods getting 11 nominations each, as well as special celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of Phantom of the Opera and the 20th anniversary of Wicked. Nick Mohammed dons his best bib and tucker to host proceedings from London’s Royal Albert Hall.
