Summary

Robert De Niro takes his first starring role in a TV series in a six-part political thriller set in a troubling era of fake news and carefully seeded suspicion, directed by Lesli Linka Glatter. Following a devastating cyberattack, which results in thousands of fatalities, former US President George Mullen (De Niro) barrels out of retirement to lead the Zero Day Commission. The task force is convened to unmask the culprits as disinformation runs rampant and influential figures in technology jostle for supremacy in a power vacuum. Mullen's former chief of staff Valerie Whitesell (Connie Britton) and former aide turned political fixer Roger Carlson (Jesse Plemons) are entangled in the one-time president's crusade for answers. However, he harbours dark secrets and one wrong move could jeopardise the future of his daughter, New York congresswoman Alexandra Mullen (Lizzy Caplan), who has worked hard to escape her father's shadow

A conspiracy drama from the creator of Narcos, with real heft in the casting: as well as Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Angela Bassett, Connie Britton and Lizzie Caplan, we have Robert De Niro as former President of the United States George Mullen. When a massive cyber- attack cripples American society and stalls its democratic processes, the country looks to beloved elder statesman Mullen for guidance, and he’s tapped up to lead a new kind of national government. As the show looks at how fragile our institutions and infrastructure are, we are set for a tense political thriller.
