Streaming giant Prime Video has no shortage of films to choose from, but finding the right one can be easier said than done. If you're stuck in an endless cycle of scrolling, let Radio Times's experts guide you to the movies most worth your time.

The Shape of Water was the unexpected critical darling of the 90th Academy Awards, taking home best picture and best director for Guillermo del Toro. The touching, romantic riff on the Creature from the Black Lagoon, starring Sally Hawkins as a mute cleaner in a secret government laboratory, Doug Jones as the amphibian creature with whom she falls in love and Michael Shannon as the corrupt military official who comes between them.

Quentin Tarantino’s dazzling crime classic Pulp Fiction stars John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson as hit men whose paths cross with Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer. The twisting structure, razor-sharp dialogue and brilliantly ironic blend of humour and violence made it a landmark film.

If you're still in the mood for something spooky post Halloween, you could try Hokum, a supernatural folk-horror from writer-director Damian McCarthy. Adam Scott stars as a reclusive novelist who visits a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, only to become consumed by stories of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite.

Coming-of-age biopic Tony follows a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain during a formative summer working in the high-pressure kitchens of Cape Cod, where the relationships, excesses and hard-earned lessons of restaurant life begin to shape the man he will become.

New to Prime is Rebuilding, a thoughtful neo-western drama from writer-director Max Walker-Silverman. Josh O’Connor stars as a Colorado cowboy whose life is upended by wildfire, forcing him to find strength in community while reconnecting with his ex-wife and daughter. The acclaimed Sundance film is a moving story of resilience, loss and fresh starts.

Biopic The Wizard of the Kremlin also pops up as a Prime exclusive. It tells how Vladimir Putin (played by a wig-wearing Jude Law) rose to power in the 1990s, helped by the relatively unknown scheming of one amoral power-player (Paul Dano). Intriguing and pacey, it's carried by Dano's fantastic turn.

You can also choose from Oscar-winning and -nominated fare such as Manchester by the Sea, Network and The Philadelphia Story, plus original movies such as Saltburn and Palm Springs, or feel-good pictures like hit musical Everybody's Talking about Jamie, meaning there is plenty to inspire you.
