Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Having turned fighter pilots and pool players into sex objects in Top Gun and The Color of Money, Tom Cruise provided the same service for bartenders, as he learns the meaning of life by mixing drinks under the tutelage of Martini-mentor Bryan Brown. Admittedly, Cruise's technique is pretty impressive; he juggles with bottles and makes his female customers drunk with desire. But then along comes Elisabeth Shue, who makes him reassess his lifestyle. Despite a critical pasting, this bland concoction was one of the top ten box-office hits of 1988 and spawned Bobby McFerrin's chart-topping single Don't Worry Be Happy.
