Our Score
Hard on the hairy heels of Smallfoot (2018) and Missing Link (2019), comes yet another yeti hero. Here, he's a cute, cuddly and magically powered Abominable Snowman who escapes from a Chinese laboratory and enlists three local kids to help him to evade the inevitable bad guys and return home to the Himalayas. The film's Chinese/American origins are reflected in eastern characters with oddly western characteristics. Factor in Chinese locales and the odd bout of Zen philosophising, and there's an exoticness that elevates what is otherwise a decent but formulaic affair, in which kiddie thrill-ride moments are tempered by a bit too much thoughtful rumination. Nevertheless, it's intermittently very entertaining and, for once, here's a film where the fact it doesn't live up to its title is a plus point.

After discovering a magical creature they believe to be a Yeti, teenager Yi and her two friends embark on an epic adventure. They try to reunite the creature with his family, whilst evading a wealthy financier and a determined zoologist who want to capture the creature for their own needs. Animated adventure, featuring the voices of Chloe Bennet, Albert Tsai and Tenzing Norgay Trainor.
