In this brutal, efficient British horror a group of teenagers is invited to a party in a remote cottage. Having seemingly never watched a horror movie, they accept. Within minutes, they're in the clutches of a psychopathic former soldier who's seeking the truth about the suicide of his younger brother, a friend of the luckless party animals. The sadistic scheme used to extract that truth is a deadly game of spin-the-bottle. Truth or Dare is slickly made and decently acted. It has its bloody horror film moments, but director Robert Heath wisely puts equal emphasis on the psychology of its hostage situation. It's perhaps more suited to the small screen but it's tauter than most teens-in-jeopardy horrors.
