Our Score
This workmanlike thriller stars Nicolas Cage as a thief recently released from prison and trying to go straight, but forced to confront his past when his daughter is kidnapped by an old gang member (Josh Lucas). As Cage sets about making up the missing millions from an earlier heist to secure his daughter's freedom, hard-nosed FBI man Danny Huston shadows his every move and is ready to pounce. It's a familiar premise, and was handled with some flair in the Liam Neeson action yarn Taken, but here there are just too many standard movie conventions and too few surprises. Director Simon West (who last teamed up with Cage on Con Air) ticks every race-against-time box imaginable as the hammy criminal leads chew the scenery, with only Huston delivering a remotely convincing performance.

Summary

A reformed thief's daughter is kidnapped by an old partner in crime, who demands he hand over $10million they stole together. The former crook is unable to convince the kidnappers he does not have the money, so sets out to rescue the girl - but if the ransom is not paid in 12 hours, she will be killed. Action thriller, starring Nicolas Cage, Josh Lucas, Danny Huston and Malin Akerman.
