Review

Gabriel Tate

This endlessly humane and engaging series approaches an annual milestone guaranteed to bring students and teachers alike to the brink: GCSEs. At least at Thornhill Community Academy they have Educating Yorkshire to burnish the reputation should results not do the job, but head teacher Mr Burton and his team quite clearly have both grades and welfare at the heart of their approach tonight.

Top of the agenda is a crackdown on the use of mobile phones. Prefect Falak is one of those struggling with the pressure of expectation, while maths teacher Mrs Delaney-Hudson takes her own approach to motivating her class. Watch out, too, for a cameo from a familiar face.
