Summary
"The Chase" is a quiz presented by Bradley Walsh. Four contestants must pit their wits against ruthless quiz genius the Chaser in the hope of winning thousands of pounds. Each contestant is given 60 seconds to answer as many questions as possible, with each correct answer worth £1,000. The amount won goes onto the board, three steps ahead of the Chaser. Both the player and the Chaser are then given the same multiple-choice question with three possible answers. Each correct answer moves the contestant and their money one step closer to home, but if they get a question wrong and the Chaser gets it right, the Chaser closes the gap. If the contestant makes it home safely they go through to the Final Chase, but if they get caught they leave the show. In the Final Chase, the remaining contestants work as a team to answer as many questions as they can in two minutes. If the Chaser fails to catch the team, the money is split between them; if they get caught by the Chaser they go home with nothing. Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace have been Chasers since series one. Anne Hegerty joined them in series two and Paul Sinha made his debut in series four. It premiered on ITV in 2009. Well-known faces compete for charity in "The Chase: Celebrity Special" spin-off.
