Summary
"Vera" is a detective drama starring Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope, who tracks down killers with the help of long-suffering sidekick DS Joe Ashworth (David Leon). She is obsessive about her work and driven by her own demons. The series is adapted from the Vera Stanhope novels by Ann Cleeves. In the first episode, based on the novel Hidden Depths, two murders take place which see the victims placed in water and surrounded by flowers. It premiered on ITV in 2011.
