Summary
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" is an American sci-fi drama set in the 24th century, about 100 years after the original "Star Trek" series. Kirk, Spock and McCoy are replaced by Picard (Patrick Stewart), Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Data (Brent Spiner). It depicts a much more advanced Federation, with former arch-enemies the Klingons now allies. The hugely popular series premiered in 1986 and ran for seven seasons, clocking up 178 episodes. Characters from this series featured in four feature films: Star Trek Generations (1994), Star Trek: First Contact (1996), Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) and Star Trek Nemesis (2002).
