Do you know about the 1980s Corby poisoning scandal? Probably not, but this impassioned, strongly cast true-story drama, written by Jack Thorne, might put that right. Jodie Whittaker is Susan, a woman who refuses to be fobbed off when her baby is born with physical disabilities — she’s convinced that the redevelopment of a Northamptonshire steelworks has caused numerous babies in the area to have similar problems.
Aimee Lou Wood, Claudia Jessie, Robert Carlyle, Brendan Coyle and Rory Kinnear co-star in a series that, belatedly, gives its working-class protagonists a powerful voice.
