Summary
Biographical drama starring Natalie Portman and Peter Sarsgaard. A week after the assassination of her husband, President John F Kennedy, a shell-shocked Jackie is interviewed by a journalist, and is forced to relive the events leading up to the most horrific moment of her life.

Daringly intimate and unusually insightful, Jackie sees a South American provocateur take on an all-American idol. Known for his savage attacks on the Chilean establishment, here Pablo Larraín (No, The Club) turns his attention to First Lady Jacqueline "Jackie" Kennedy in the period immediately after JFK's assassination. Relentless close-ups tighten the focus around her in the days following her husband's death as she is pitted against key White House figures. Although Larraín takes us back to happier times, JFK barely registers - a pointed decision as the film credits Jackie, at least in part, with the creation of his legend. Natalie Portman gives a towering performance in the lead and has never looked more beautiful, going beyond impersonation to mine the depths of Jackie's devastation. As screenwriter Noah Oppenheim boldly fleshes out a hitherto enigmatic figure, it is with great pride that we watch Jackie step from her husband's shadow in the aftermath of his death, having secured them both a place in history.
