Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

It's "werewolves on a train" in ace make-up and effects-man-turned-director Paul Hyett's second endeavour after The Seasoning House. A late night locomotive screeches to a halt in a dark forest after hitting something on the tracks. When the driver doesn't return from investigating, a disparate group of passengers work together to survive being picked off by a feral enemy. While nowhere near as brutally provocative as his first shocker, the overly familiar hairy horrors benefit from Hyett's sure fan-boy touch. He guides an able cast, too, including The Descent's Shauna Macdonald, Dog Soldiers' Sean Pertwee, Downton Abbey's Ed Speleers and Acorn Antiques' Duncan Preston. There's nothing here that hasn't been seen before in the vast mythology of lycanthropy, but even those well-acquainted with the genre should find enough to enjoy in the stylish set pieces that feature plenty of bloody action.
