Shane Richie has teased some "big" storylines that are on the way for his character Alfie Moon and Kat Slater on EastEnders – and claims his mind has been blown by some of the events that are coming up soon in the soap.

The Albert Square icon made the comments while speaking exclusively to Radio Times at a Gala Performance of Cabaret this week, while he also praised the work of the soap's executive producer Ben Wadley.

"We've got some big storylines coming up on EastEnders with Kat and Alfie which I'm really excited about," he said. "And Ben our exec producer, he's... wow! He's really flying the flag for the show."

Richie continued: "So there's some big stories coming up throughout the whole show which is just blowing my mind every time I read the scripts. I'm very excited to see that."

Meanwhile, the star was also asked if he'd consider signing up to a future series of The Celebrity Traitors – and revealed he's actually suggested referencing the popular reality show during an EastEnders episode.

"Oh, I would love it. I would love to do Traitors," he said. "It's so funny because I keep talking to our exec producer about.... we should do it as 'Alfie Traitors in the Queen Vic.'

"You know what I mean? Just as something that Alfie puts on in the pub. So that'd be good fun."

We've no doubt that any EastEnders version of The Traitors would include just as much drama and double-crossing as the real thing. So sounds like a great fit!
