Prime Video has released a first look at the third and final run of its supernatural thriller The Devil's Hour – and it's also been confirmed when the Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine drama will return to our screens.

After a little bit of a wait – a couple of years – the third instalment of The Devil's Hour will be landing on Prime Video on Friday 4 December.

To mark the release date being confirmed, the streamer has also treated fans to a series of first-look images of the new run, with Radio Times getting an exclusive sneak peek.

The images show Raine reprising her role as Lucy Chambers and Capaldi once again playing serial killer Gideon Shepherd, but also Nikesh Patel (Starstruck) returning as DI Ravi Dhillon.

Whilst the images don't really give anything away, they certainly show each character in search of something and appearing nervous to do so – or in the case of Lucy and Gideon wielding guns, being prepared for the worst.

The new season sees the return of other cast members including Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), Meera Syal (Goodness Gracious Me) and Saffron Hocking (Top Boy).

The time-looping drama is expected to continue on its mind-bending vein, with Prime Video already setting up quite the final chapter.

As per the synopsis: "Life is a scratched record, looping, over and over again. Most of us don't remember living our lives before, but Lucy Chambers (Jessica Raine) has woken up. Lucy remembers her life as a police detective, when she failed to prevent a series of terrorist acts. She remembers Gideon Shepherd (Peter Capaldi), the serial killer who warned her the attacks were coming."

It continues: "Now she has been born again, neither a mother nor a police officer, but haunted by the memories of both. With only Gideon to turn to, Lucy teams up with her old foe to hunt down the monstrous child-killer who has evaded her across multiple lifetimes."

Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, with Gideon shooting Lucy in the belief that a reset would give them another attempt to stop their enemy, before Isaac heard a familiar voice and called out "Mum".

Raine had previously told Radio Times that the show was always planned as a trilogy, saying "there's so much scope for more", which this concluding run will obviously now deliver on.
