With the cliffhanger ending spelling trouble for our characters going into the new instalment, it's only a matter of hours now until we're plummeted back into the juicy action of Rutshire.

As well as all our returning cast, the new season also marks the introduction of some new characters, played by none other than Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett. Teasing what's to come with them, Alex Hassell told Radio Times of how they intersect with Rupert Campbell-Black: "They both have really strong, fairly negative feelings towards him but also, some protective feelings towards him as well."

He added: "He’s really, really hurt their feelings many, many times and I think they’re at the end of the their tether."

Well, we're set to be introduced to them and more in the new season 2 episodes – but when exactly will they land on Disney Plus? Read on to find out about the release time of the new season.

Rivals season 2 premieres on Disney Plus on Friday 15 May at 7am with its first three episodes – so you'll want to set your early morning alarms!

The remaining three episodes will then land on Disney Plus on a weekly basis, every Friday also from 7am.

The release format is different from the first instalment of Rivals, which landed in one go on the streamer.

This time around, season 2 episodes will arrive in two separate six-episode batches. That means that the first batch will conclude on 5 June, with the rest of the episodes not due to be released until later in the year.
