The Pokémon TCG keeps expanding with new sets, and this summer we're set to be treated to Mega Evolution – Pitch Black.

Revealed by PokéBeach, Pitch Black is set to be the 5th Mega Evolution set for Pokémon TCG, the English-language release of Japan's incoming Abyss Eye set.

There are some exciting new cards to collect in this new set, not least Mega Darkrai ex.

The Pokémon Company is yet to confirm the Pitch Black release date or details (as it builds to the release of Chaos Rising) but we already know plenty about the upcoming expansion set.

When is the Pokémon TCG Pitch Black release date?

The Pokémon TCG Pitch Black release date is 17 July 2026, according to PokéBeach.

What's more, PokéBeach is also claiming that pre-release sets of the expansion will be live from 4 July until 12 July 2026.

We'll be sure to update this page with official release information when The Pokémon Company confirms it. Keep those eyes peeled.

Is there a Pitch Black pre-order yet?

Pokémon TCG Pitch Black pre-orders are not yet live.

When pre-orders do go live, expect the likes of Magic Madhouse to have the sets available for purchase.

You should also find Pitch Black available for pre-order through the Pokémon Center, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon and Target, and with trading card game specialist stores such as TCGPlayer.

What do we know about the Pitch Black card list?

While we await for official confirmation of the expansion, thanks to PokéBeach, we already know that Pitch Black includes a bunch of cool cards such as Mega Darkrai ex.

We should also be able to find Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Zygarde ex and Mega Greninja ex cards too!
