Despite its status as part of the Shondaland universe, this twisty legal thriller from 2014 never seemed to catch on in the UK in the way its contemporary Grey’s Anatomy did. A shame, as it’s a wickedly delectable affair, with Viola Davis impossible to resist as law professor Annalise Keating, who at the outset embroils her students in a labyrinthine murder plot.
Among those taking tutelage are Hogwarts graduate Alfred Enoch and Aja Naomi King. Davis won an Emmy for her role, the first black woman to do so in the category of outstanding lead actress in a drama series.
