Summary

With Europe as his game board, presenter Rob Brydon takes 13 players on the mystery journey of a lifetime. Onboard a bus with blacked-out windows, all they have to do is deduce where they are.

Episode 1: Episode 1

Summary

Rob Brydon hosts as 13 contestants are taken to undisclosed locations across Europe on a coach with blacked-out windows and have to guess where they are. In each location the contestants will face challenges designed to offer clues to their whereabouts and the person who guesses the furthest away from their actual location will leave the competition

Review

Frances Taylor

A mysterious trip around Europe where you’re blindfolded and driven around on a bus without windows is the type of holiday that’d ordinarily not only have you phoning for a refund, but contacting Interpol.

Instead, this is the BBC’s exhausting new competitive reality show. A televisual love child between The Traitors and Channel 4’s Coach Trip (with a little Race across the World thrown into the mix for good measure), 13 contestants are jetting off to… well, they’re not sure. Their quest is to locate precisely where they are via challenges, games and clues; all the while being deliberately disorientated and fed red herrings. When they’re periodically invited to “The Map Room” to pinpoint where they believe the bus to be, the person whose guess is the furthest away is eliminated (a QR code on screen offers viewers the chance to play along at home, too).

If that all sounds convoluted and wearisome… it is. Rob Brydon, dressed as though he’s mistakenly picked up Michael Portillo’s suitcase at baggage claim, presides through a strained smile. Continues tomorrow.
