Review

Huw Fullerton

Of all the TV apocalypses to actually live in, Station Eleven has The Last of Us and The Walking Dead beaten. Sure, society has still collapsed after a deadly flu virus but the sun is shining, there are no rabid zombies, and there’s even a bit of an arts scene.

Mackenzie Davis stars as Kirsten, an actor in a touring troupe bringing Shakespeare to isolated survivors, 20 years after the outbreak. In layered flashbacks we see how she ended up here, in a cleverly understated adaptation of Emily St John Mandel’s 2014 novel.
