Review

Jack Seale

Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi is among the executive producers of this US comedy drama. The immediate reason to watch it is that it offers a rare look at life for indigenous Americans, based as it is around four teenagers in a rural community in Oklahoma.

With the production crew almost entirely indigenous along with the cast, it’s an authentic take on a particular kind of outsider existence. More than that, its portrayal of youths whose dreams depend on their halting attempts to commit crime is wickedly funny, and the vibe of bewildered ennui is recognisable to anyone who grew up in a small town.
