Coronation Street: The Bill star Andrew Paul to play new love interest for Liz McDonald

Liz will take up with brewery rep Dan Jones after Tony's affair with Tracy is exposed

Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) is to have a rebound romance with a brewery rep played by Andrew Paul.

Paul, who played PC Dave Quinlan on The Bill for 13 years, will take on the role of smooth-talking Dan Jones, who catches Liz’s eye as she reels from Tony Stewart’s betrayal.

Tony is currently scheming with Tracy Barlow to take over at the Rovers Return, but when his double dealing is exposed, Dan looks to be the man to heal Liz’s heartache. But show bosses have revealed that Dan already has a secret past with another Weatherfield woman…

“Will Liz find out Dan’s dark secret before it is too late? And how will he react when he bumps into the blast from his past who could ruin his budding romance with landlady Liz?,” a soap spokesperson said today.

News of Andrew Paul’s signing comes following recent announcements that both Alison King and Craig Charles are to exit the ITV soap, while Paddy McGuinness and Sarah Harding have both been booked for guest stints. Read more about all the upcoming cast changes here.
