British actors Joseph Fiennes, Tom Felton and Peter Firth go Roman in an earnestly clunky biblical drama that proves, more than anything else, that Hollywood executives believe there's a market in "faith films" - The Passion of the Christ having set a blockbusting precedent. Fiennes and Felton play Roman officers ordered to look into the mysterious disappearance of Christ's body after the Crucifixion. Firth plays the prefect who orders their investigation, but this potentially interesting "CSI: Judea" stuff is speedily ditched in favour of Fiennes's conversion to Christianity and some routine miracles. Playing safe and raising no serious questions, the film feels squarely aimed at the American Bible Belt, but director Kevin Reynolds (who, in his higher-profile days, gave us Waterworld and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) applies a glossy finish that gives it a lift.
