The new season, which will see the battle for the Central South West television franchise reach new heights, is set to arrive in two separate six-episode batches.

The first set will roll out from Friday 15 May, while the second batch of episodes will come later in the year.

The new trailer gives us a first look at Corinium's leader Lord Tony Baddingham (David Tennant) in action - and he looks even more determined to crush Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) and Declan O’Hara’s (Aidan Turner) rival company, Venturer. "We are ready to knock them out of the competition" he says.

But it doesn't look like Declan and Rupert will be going down without a fight, as they're seen gearing up to take on Tony once again.

The footage also teases plenty of twists and turns in store for the show's couples including Freddie (Danny Dyer) and Lizzie (Katherine Parkinson).

Other returning faces in season 2 will include Bella Maclean, Victoria Smurfit, Claire Rushbrook, Oliver Chris, Lisa McGrillis, Emily Atack, Rufus Jones, Luke Pasqualino, Catriona Chandler and Annabel Scholey.

Meanwhile, new additions to the cast include Rupert Everett as Malise Gordon, Rupert's former coach and Helen's new husband, as well as Holly Cattle, Oliver Dench, Amanda Lawrence, Bobby Lockwood, Eliot Salt, Maxim Ays and Jonny Weldon.

Dyer recently teased that season 2 is "so much better than the first".

Speaking at the winner's press conference at the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises, where he won best performance in a comedy for his turn in the Sky series Mr Bigstuff, he explained: "Honestly the writers and the producers have absolutely nailed it and I can’t wait for people to see it."

He added: "It’s a beautiful job for me [and] I love working with Katherine [Parkinson]."

Rivals season 1 is available to stream on Disney+. Sign up to Disney Plus now for £4.99 per month or £79.90 for a full year.
