Colin Morgan and Aml Ameen headline this richly atmospheric, if rather too straightforward, 1970s-set IRA thriller. Morgan plays an Irish paramilitary man who sees his pregnant wife gunned down in a woodland shooting by Ameen's SAS sergeant. When Ameen returns to London to head up a clandestine counter-terrorism operation, under the watchful eye of Mark Strong's bigwig, he's followed by Morgan. Joining a terrorist cell, the Irishman has just one thing on his mind: revenge. Directors Charles and Thomas Guard (The Uninvited) work wonders visually, truly capturing 1970s grime. If only the script by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy) had more depth. As Morgan and Ameen go mano-a-mano, all else fades into the background - not least a haggard-looking Felicity Jones, whose role as an IRA contact is never fleshed out as well as it could be. However, a greasy-locked Morgan and a tightly wound Ameen are still compelling to watch.
