Summary

Nicolas Cage's brief appearances are the sole incentive to watch this science fiction/martial arts hybrid, a derivative and draggy mash-up of Predator and Mortal Kombat. Alain Moussi plays Jake, a super-soldier wounded in Myanmar. Stricken with amnesia, he slowly remembers he's there to lead a troupe of MMA fighters against an alien warrior, who visits Earth every six years to tackle humanity's fiercest combatants. Director Dimitri Logothetis takes 45 minutes to establish this perfunctory plot, during which little happens besides a few drawn-out dust-ups. The underpowered fight scenes manage to make action stars Tony Jaa and JuJu Chan appear unimpressive, while the effects are shoddy throughout and the alien itself is a bland creation. Some comic-strip chapter interludes hint at the pulp terrain Logothetis was perhaps aiming for, but the film's straight-faced tone and leaden script deaden that potential. The only flashes of wit come from Cage, who invests his wild-eyed jungle sage with the self-awareness this fatally boring genre crossover otherwise lacks.
