It certainly paves the way for quite the return – if that's to be the case.

We already knew it was going to be quite an explosive summer in the Dales – but now, it seems like Emmerdale is about to pull off a fake death plot for the ages.

The Sun reports that Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) will fake her own death in an upcoming storyline that is really set to shake the soap up. A source told the outlet: "Patsy's exit has got everyone talking. Soaps are notorious for faking deaths.

"The scenes are set to be sensational and scriptwriters are excited to see them play out. Patsy's character Sadie is a great villain, so bosses were keen to give her the opportunity to return, if they need her to stir the pot."

Radio Times has approached ITV for comment.

Kensit is set to reprise her role as Sadie in upcoming episodes, with the summer slate for the soap revealing that she'll be back on her own personal mission. Of course, residents are set to be surprised to see her again but she also comes with news and a massive secret. As for what it is, we'll just have to keep watching.

Kensit's return to Emmerdale has been anticipated for a little while now, with the confirmation of her role reprisal being made a few months ago. She'd initially joined the soap back in 2004 but her return this time has left fans wondering if it'll coincide with Jimmy's untimely death.

At the time of her return confirmation, producer Laura Shaw said: "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Patsy Kensit back to the cast and crucially to see the iconic Sadie King storm back into the village.

"Her return will be explosive and guaranteed to shock. Sadie's seductive demeanour, combined with her utterly ruthless nature, are set to deliver a spectacular and highly dramatic touch of class to the Yorkshire Dales."

And if Sadie's fake death storyline is due to be pulled off in a suitable dramatic fashion, we can only imagine it will certainly be "guaranteed to shock". Consider us excited!
