Hannah Waddingham reveals why she loves her Ride or Die character just as much as Ted Lasso’s Rebecca

Waddingham plays in international assassin, Judith, in the action comedy.

Hannah Waddingham has had some memorable and beloved roles over the years, in series such as Game of Thrones and Sex Education. However, few of them hold a place in the fanbase, and it seems Waddingham herself, like Rebecca in Ted Lasso.

With that beloved football comedy set to return this summer, fans can't wait to see Rebecca again. However, Waddingham has now said that she feels "just the same" about Rebecca as she does her new character in action comedy series Ride or Die.

In the six-part series, Waddingham plays Judith Burton, best friend to Octavia Spencer's Debbie Claybourne and, secretly, an international assassin.

The synopsis for the series teases: "When a mysterious figure emerges from Judith’s past and a hit goes horribly wrong, both of their worlds are turned upside down as they’re forced to go on the run together. It’s a race against time and a road trip across Europe, with law enforcement, highly trained assassins, and some very dangerous criminals at their heels."

When speaking with Radio Times exclusively alongside Spencer, Waddingham was asked about what it was like to play an action hero type figure in the new series.

She said: "I love her. I love her for all of that, and I'm very glad that I went into it so wholeheartedly and completely. I love her as a person, what she's been through, and I was advocating for her all the time in it.

"I just can't believe that another role like my Ted Lasso role, for whom I have great love as well… to be afforded the luxury of a new role that I feel just the same about is massive privilege."
