The Sun has reported that, ahead of the second season debuting, a third season is already in the works, showing the streamer's confidence in the show moving forward.

A TV insider told the publication: “Thankfully the quality of the show and the ratings have convinced bosses that the drama is worth committing to. It is top-level production and directed by Guy Ritchie and has been well received by critics and, generally, by the viewers."

Radio Times has approached Paramount+ for comment.

The cast of MobLand is led by Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, while other British acting favourites who appear in key roles include Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Janet McTeer and Lara Pulver, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones.

Meanwhile, the cast also features Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson and Jordi Mollà.

The series has been created by Top Boy and The Day of the Jackal writer Ronan Bennett, while Ritchie acts as an executive producer and director.

When the show's renewal for season 2 was announced, Chris McCarthy, one of Paramount Global’s three CEOs and the president of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, said in a statement: "With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph — driven by the creative brilliance of Guy [Ritchie], Jez [Butterworth], Ronan [Bennett] and David Glasser, and brought to life by the powerhouse performances of Tom [Hardy], Pierce [Brosnan], and Helen [Mirren].

"We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to No. 1 in the UK."

Meanwhile, Butterworth, a writer on the show, said: "TV was a brand new world for me and I was reluctant to commit to a TV overall, but Chris, David, and the teams at Paramount and 101 Studios, completely changed my perspective with their bold creative vision and razor-sharp strategic insight.

"Collaborating with Chris, David, Guy and our stellar cast has been nothing short of inspiring, and I’m excited to dive into the second season of MobLand."
