Review

David Brown

Partnering a career criminal with a cop is hardly a new concept, but this Vancouver-set procedural is still of note, mainly because it’s Riverdale’s Vanessa Morgan who’s tasked with bringing the laughs and impudence as con artist Max Mitchell.

A woman in such a role is a rarity, a female actor of colour rarer still. Morgan acquits herself well, as does co-star Giacomo Gianniotti, even if his job as detective Cole Ellis is mainly to be left aghast at Max’s audaciously unconventional approach.
