Coming-of-age drama set in the early 2000s. In this coming-of-age tale based on a memoir by Paris Lees, Byron (Ellis Howard) is stuck in a boring Nottinghamshire town as the 21st century begins, dreaming of being a different person in a different life. Whether it’s the bullies who throw punches and homophobic slurs in the street, or a dad aggressively wishing he had a sporty son, nobody offers any comfort — and nobody can quell Byron’s belief that there is something better out there.
When a dalliance with sex work leads to Nottingham’s queer underground and a gang of outsiders, a new life seems to be within reach.
